Sun Prairie High School student Colin Loeffler recently received the first place award for his score on the Trig-Star exam, an annual high school trigonometry competition sponsored by the National Society of Professional Surveyors.

The local program is offered and administered by Sun Prairie gradute Dan Birrenkott of Birrenkott Surveying. He is a member of the Sun Prairie Business and Education Partnership. This is his tenth year administering the test.

Loeffler won a prize of $100 for his score. Six others won prizes ranging from $25 – $75.

“The purpose of the Trig-Star program is to create an awareness of opportunities in the land surveying field,” said Birrenkott. “New to the program this year is an opportunity from the state and national associations to qualify for a scholarship in the land surveying field if a student takes the Trig-Star exam and then goes on to a school that offers an accredited surveying program.”
